Play & Explore
Now it is your turn! Tilt a solar panel towards the Sun, spin a turbine to light up homes, and fill a battery by day to use at night. Tap and slide to see clean energy at work.
1. Point the Panel at the Sun
A solar panel makes the most electricity when it faces the Sun. Move the Sun across the sky and tilt the panel to catch the most light. Then try adding clouds!

2. Spin the Turbine, Light the Homes
Inside a generator, a spinning magnet near a copper coil makes electricity. Choose the wind speed and see how many homes light up. Too strong a storm, and the turbine stops to stay safe!
Tap a wind speed above.
3. Save Sunshine for the Night
Slide through one day. The solar panel fills the battery while the Sun shines, and the battery lights the home after dark. Switch off the extra lights to make the battery last all night!

Activity — Make a Paper Pinwheel Turbine
You need: a 15 cm square of stiff paper, a pencil with an eraser, a pin, scissors and crayons.
- Colour the paper and draw lines from each corner to the centre.
- Cut along each line, stopping 2 cm before the centre.
- Fold every second point into the centre and hold them together.
- Ask an adult to push the pin through the centre into the eraser.
- Blow gently, then hard. When does it spin fastest?
Activity — The Sunshine Heat Test
Wrap one glass of water in black paper and another in white paper. Keep both in sunlight for 30 minutes, then carefully feel the water. Dark colours soak up more of the Sun's energy — that is why solar panels and solar water heaters are dark!
Activity — Energy Detective at Home
Walk through your home with a notebook. For each room, write what uses electricity, anything left ON that is not needed, and one way to save energy there.
Activity — Match the Friend to the Clean Energy
| Friend | Clean energy |
|---|---|
| Anaya (Rajasthan) | Biogas plant |
| Ravi (Tamil Nadu) | Hot springs |
| Hetal (Gujarat) | Solar-powered airport |
| Harpreet (Punjab) | Wind farm |
| Stanzin (Ladakh) | Solar village |
| Kiran (Karnataka) | Solar park in the desert |
| Aditya (Kerala) | Big dam |
Design My Green Village
Draw a village that runs only on clean energy. Show at least three sources from this book, a battery room, and the wires that share the power. Give your village a name!
