📖 Chapter 7 of 9 · AI For New Learner Advance 2 (Multi Indian Language) · Class 8

Build-It Mini Projects

Real AI thinking with paper, pen, and your team. Four projects: build a mini Bhashini dataset, an Indian-heritage prompt library, a phone privacy audit, and your own AI career roadmap.

Project 1 — Build a Mini Bhashini Dataset

AI needs LOTS of labelled data. Get a team of 4 friends and build a tiny one for your mother tongue: (1) Pick 20 common English sentences (greetings, weather, food, family, school). (2) Each team member translates them into your mother tongue. (3) Compare your translations and discuss differences. (4) Note where everyone agreed and where people differed. (5) Now write a ‘Behind the Code’: how would AI learn from your dataset? This is exactly how Bhashini was built — except with millions of sentences!

Project 2 — Indian Heritage Prompt Library

Build a notebook of 20 amazing prompts to make Indian-themed AI images and stories. Image prompts, e.g. ‘Old man playing harmonium under a banyan tree, Vrindavan dawn, Raja Ravi Varma style’. Story prompts, e.g. ‘Write a 200-word story about a Kerala girl who invents an AI rain detector for her village’. Learning prompts, e.g. ‘Explain photosynthesis in Hindi for an 11-year-old’. Civic prompts, e.g. ‘List 5 ways AI can reduce Delhi pollution, with India-specific examples’. Save your best 20 prompts — this is YOUR prompt library, a real-world skill!

Project 3 — Privacy Audit of Your Phone

Become a Misha-style young investigator. Audit your family phone’s apps for data leaks:

  • Open Settings → Apps. Count: how many apps can use your CAMERA?
  • How many can use your LOCATION even when not in use?
  • How many can read CONTACTS?
  • Pick ONE app you haven’t used in 3 months. Uninstall it.
  • Open one app’s Privacy Policy. List 3 surprising things.
  • Tell your family one thing they should change today.

Project 4 — Your AI Career Roadmap

Pick ONE AI career and design a roadmap — YOUR plan to become an AI leader of new India: (1) Choose a role: AI doctor / AI engineer / AI ethicist / AI artist / robot designer / AI policy reporter. (2) Pick a real Indian role model (e.g. Sarvam AI’s founders, Niramai’s founders, ISRO scientists). (3) List 5 skills you need (maths, coding, communication, ethics, domain knowledge). (4) List 3 milestones — by age 15, 18, 22. (5) List 3 Indian colleges/institutes that teach these skills (IIIT-H, IIT, IISc, ISI Kolkata). (6) Write ONE sentence: “By 2040, I will have built ___________.” Pin this in your study room and update it every year.
