📖 Chapter 1 of 9 · AI For New Learner Basic 3 (Multi Indian Language) · Class 6
Chapter 1: Hello AI — A Quick Recap
In this chapter
- What is AI? Remembering from Basic 2.
- Where do we see AI in India every day?
- Meeting Aarav (Delhi) and Ishaan (Mumbai).
- The big idea: AI = Cleverness + Data + Practice.
Did you know?
India has more than 800 million smartphone users in 2026. That means more than 800 million people use AI every single day — through maps, messages, photos, payments, and many more apps. India is one of the world’s biggest AI users!
Story 1: Aarav’s Big Brother Test
From: Delhi · Character: Aarav, age 10
Aarav is now 10 years old. His little cousin Riya, just 7, came to visit him in Delhi. Riya saw Aarav talking to his smart speaker. “Bhaiya, is your speaker MAGIC?” she asked.
Aarav laughed. “No Riya, it is AI — Artificial Intelligence. It listens to my words, thinks for a moment, and gives me an answer. It is not magic — it is data and practice.”
Riya was puzzled. “Like a school test?” Aarav nodded. “Yes! The AI did its homework — billions of words, pictures, and sounds. Now it can answer questions like a clever big brother.”
Riya smiled and whispered to the speaker, “Sing me a lullaby!” The speaker sang in a sweet voice. Riya clapped. “I LOVE this big brother!” Aarav laughed. The new generation of India is being raised with AI as a family friend.
Story 2: Ishaan and the Mumbai Local
From: Mumbai, Maharashtra · Character: Ishaan, age 11
Ishaan lives near the busy Dadar station in Mumbai. Every morning, his Baba (father) catches a local train to office. With 8 million people travelling daily on Mumbai’s trains, it is no easy job!
Baba has a special app on his phone. The app says — “7:48 AM train, 60% crowded. Try 7:55 train — only 30% crowded.” Baba smiled and waited 7 minutes. He got a seat!
Ishaan asked, “Baba, how does the app KNOW about crowds?” Baba explained — “AI is watching, beta. Cameras at stations, ticket counts, mobile signals — AI takes all this DATA and predicts the future. Like a weather forecast, but for trains!”
Ishaan thought hard. “So AI is like a fortune-teller?” Baba laughed. “Not really. AI does not guess. AI sees patterns from millions of past days, and uses them to predict today. That is the real power.”
Solved examples
Think first, then read the answer!
1. What is the difference between magic and AI?
Show answer
Answer: Magic has no explanation. AI has a clear method — it studies huge amounts of data, finds patterns, and then answers. Magic is a trick. AI is science.
2. Why did Ishaan’s father wait 7 minutes for a less crowded train?
Show answer
Answer: Because the AI app predicted crowds using past data. By waiting 7 minutes, Baba traded a little time for a much better seat and comfort.
3. Is a TV remote an example of AI?
Show answer
Answer: No. A normal remote just sends a fixed signal — it does not LEARN or DECIDE. A smart TV remote that responds to your voice (like ‘Play cricket match’) has AI inside it.
4. Aarav says AI does ‘homework’. What does he mean?
Show answer
Answer: Like a student, AI also learns from many examples — words, pictures, sounds. After enough learning, AI becomes smart at answering. The learning part is called training.
5. Can AI predict the next earthquake exactly?
Show answer
Answer: Not exactly. AI is good at finding patterns when there is good data. Earthquakes are still very hard to predict. AI helps scientists, but it is not perfect — yet!
Formula to remember
AI = Cleverness + DATA + Practice. No data = No AI. No practice = No AI. No cleverness in design = No AI.
